Lone Goat Gallery

The Lone Goat Gallery, located in the Library building, is Byron Shire's premier community gallery offering a contemporary art space for local and visiting artists as well as touring exhibitions. An innovative and diverse program of exhibitions runs throughout the year featuring artworks across all mediums that reflect, comment on, or complement the Northern River's unique cultural and natural environment. A schedule with exhibitions that change every two or three weeks provides continued interest for both local residents and visitors alike - a perfect quiet cultural haven from the hubub of busy Byron Bay. The name Lone Goat Gallery was inspired by the last goat of a small herd that used to roam the Cape Byron headland by the Lighthouse. Her strong independent spirit is a fitting parallel to the many creative and free spirited individuals that make up this community.
