The Thamarrurr Men's Shed is a new positive space for the Wadeye Community where young and old men come together to share traditional arts and culture as well as exploring new creative mediums. The space has enabled ancient crafting skills to be passed on to the younger men and the upskilling of men in modern and contemporary art forms. The youths are also able to channel their energy creatively within this space. The gallery provides an opportunity to the artists of this town to supplement their income.
Wadeye is on of the very few and last places in Australia that has some art elders still creating ceremonial headdresses, canoes, a variety of spears, and hair belts.
